Samia reshuffles Health ministry leadership

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has announced changes in the leadership of the ministry of Health today, Friday, January 17, 2025.

The reshuffle was revealed through an official press release from the State House, issued by the Chief Secretary, Ambassador Moses Kusiluka.

The statement indicates that President Hassan has revoked the appointment of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Prof Tumaini Nagu.

In her place, the Head of State has appointed Dr Grace Magembe, who was previously the Deputy Secretary at the President’s Office - Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), to become the new CMO.

Additionally, Dr Abdallah Shekalaghe and Dr John Jingu have exchanged positions as permanent secretaries.

Dr Shekalaghe, who previously served as the permanent secretary in the ministry of Health, will now take on similar duties in the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, and Children, while Dr Jingu will lead the health docket.
