He said the Head of State will co-chair the summit following a request from the International Energy Agency's (IEA) executive director, Dr Fatih Birol.

"The summit’s theme is clean cooking energy for Africa. The meeting's priority is elevating clean cooking energy on the global agenda and mobilising a broader coalition of support for this critical issue,” he said.

Other priorities, according to him, are to identify effective policy measures that will accelerate the use of clean cooking energy and develop a roadmap of concrete, action-oriented strategies around financing, carbon markets, policies, and partnerships that will help better mobilise additional support to scale successful clean cooking efforts.

"Through her participation, President Hassan will continue to efficiently carry out this agenda on behalf of the African Heads of State. But our participation is also an opportunity to show the big steps we have taken as a country in completing the clean cooking energy agenda," he said.

He said during the 28th meeting of the member states of the UN Convention for Climate Change (COP28) held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), from November 30 to December 12, 2023, President Hassan launched the Clean Energy Programme to Support Women in Africa (African Women Clean Cooking Support Programme, AWCCSP), thus making her a champion of the clean cooking energy agenda on the continent.
