Samia urges Africa to learn from South Korea's transformation

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has urged African countries to learn from South Korea's remarkable economic journey.

President Hassan, who is touring the Republic of Korea, made her remarks when addressing the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit taking place in Seoul.

"South Korea's inspiring story of transforming from a resource-limited, agricultural economy to a global leader in just seven decades is a powerful example," the President said in a statement released by the State House on Tuesday, June 4.

She emphasised that South Korea's success, built on determination, resilience, and resourcefulness, serves as an inspiration for Africa.

President Hassan also highlighted the importance of addressing social and economic inequalities within Africa when forging economic partnerships.

Furthermore, she welcomed South Korea's commitment to shared prosperity and initiatives promoting trade, investment, and private sector engagement between Africa and Korea.

Finally, as the summit's only female leader, President Hassan championed clean cooking solutions in Africa.

"Investment in clean cooking not only benefits the environment and public health but also empowers women and creates economic opportunities," she explained.
