Tanzania hubs network launches to boost innovation across the country

Chairman of the Tanzania Hubs Network (THN), Kiko Kiwanga, speaks at today’s launch of a network of hubs aimed at accelerating innovation and fostering collaboration within Tanzania's innovation ecosystem, held in Dar es Salaam on November 4.

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Hubs Network (THN) has officially launched a network of innovation hubs designed to accelerate growth and strengthen support for innovators and entrepreneurs throughout Tanzania.

Established in 2020, THN operates as a membership-based organization, aiming to drive socio-economic development by empowering hubs to better support their members while building a cohesive and thriving innovation ecosystem nationwide.

In collaboration with the Funguo Innovation Programme—a joint initiative supported by the UNDP, European Union, and UK Government—THN is elevating the capabilities of its over 35 member hubs, collectively supporting more than 200 startups across Tanzania.

Speaking at the launch event today, November 4, THN Chairperson Kiko Kiwanga highlighted the organization’s mission to foster collaboration and provide resources to fuel innovation.

“By fostering collaboration and providing access to resources, we are creating an environment where innovation can thrive,” he said.

“Our mission is to unite diverse sectors and backgrounds, ensuring that every innovator has the support they need to succeed,” he added.

THN’s core activities include promoting knowledge sharing, maximizing resources, and providing unified support for emerging tech entrepreneurs.

Additionally, the network is mapping Tanzania’s innovation landscape to identify opportunities, showcase local talent globally, and influence policies that strengthen the national innovation ecosystem.

As part of its outreach, THN is inviting both physical and virtual hubs registered in Tanzania to join the network, amplifying the impact of innovation initiatives nationwide.

“We believe that by working together, we can create a dynamic environment that not only nurtures entrepreneurship but also contributes significantly to Tanzania’s socio-economic development,” he said.

The Tanzania Hubs Network stands as a beacon of hope for the future of Tanzanian innovation, committed to building a vibrant ecosystem that drives economic growth and social progress.

With continued support and collaboration, THN is set to play a pivotal role in shaping Tanzania’s innovation landscape for years to come.
