Dar es Salaam. Tanzania has extended an open invitation to Indonesian investors to explore and capitalize on the numerous investment opportunities in the country, as both nations celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations.

The invitation was issued during a ceremony marking Indonesia's 79th Independence Day and six decades of Tanzania-Indonesia relations, held here in the city on September 26, 2024.

The Indonesian investors’ invitation comes as Tanzania seeks to boost foreign direct investment, following in the footsteps of previous successful collaborations, such as the $1.2 billion in a fertilizer plant by Indonesian firm ESSA Industries announced a few months ago.

Speaking during the event, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr Dennis Londo, underscored Tanzania's pride in the historical and evolving relationship between the two countries.

He noted that the friendship, which dates back to the founding fathers of both nations, has grown stronger over the years.

"Tanzania welcomes the grand design for global cooperation in Africa, which was unveiled by the Indonesian Government during the second Indonesia-Africa Forum.

“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome more potential investors from Indonesia and other parts of the world to come to Tanzania and explore the opportunities to invest in different areas including agriculture, tourism, hospitality, education, and manufacturing," he said.

He asserted that the promotion of investment aligns with Tanzania's broader strategy to attract more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as part of its economic growth plan.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Tri Yogo Jatmiko, for his part, emphasized the importance of the long-standing partnership, which he described as a "strong foundation" built over six decades.

"Let my celebration remind us of the strong foundation we have built between Indonesia and Tanzania over the past 60 years, and let it inspire our commitment to strengthening this partnership for many years to come," he said.
