Tanzania: Law firm hit by an explosion

Dar es Salaam. A huge explosion hit offices of IMMMA advocates, a prominent law firm in Tanzania, at 2am on Saturday, damaging windows and causing a minor fire outbreak.

Witnesses say before the explosion armed men had come in three Land Cruisers and entered the premises carrying “packages. The explosion happened a few minutes after they had left. IMMMA House is located along the United Nations Road in Upanga suburb in Dar es Salaam.

The road section has been cordoned and security personnel are already in the area investigating the incident. Efforts to get police comments are still under way. The president of the bar association, the Tanganyika Law Society (TLS), Tundu Lissu, has called an emergency TLS Governing Council to deliberate what he called an “odious attack.”
