Tanzania's weatherman issues strong wind and wave alert for 11 regions

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has issued an alert for strong winds and large waves affecting 11 regions, including Dar es Salaam, over the next four days.

TMA's severe weather impact-based forecasts, which were released on Monday, June 10, 2024, indicate that from Tuesday, June 11 to 14, 2024, high winds reaching 40 kilometres and larges exceeding two metres would occur in Tanga and Pwani islands.

Other regions include Mafia Isles, Lindi, Mtwara, and Unguja.

These poor weather conditions are expected to interrupt a variety of economic and maritime activities, providing major challenges for inhabitants and companies in the impacted areas.

The statement further highlighted the June 13 Lake Victoria basin, Kagera, Geita, Mwanza, Mara, and Simiyu region.

The TMA advises the public to be prepared and take necessary precautions to ensure safety and minimise potential disruptions.
