Tanzanian Socialite Wema Sepetu in court over indecent video
What you need to know:
After authorities banned Wema Sepetu from acting and making films in Tanzania for an unknown period of time due to her recently leaked ‘kissing video’, all is still not well with her as the former Miss Tanzania appeared before the Kisutu Resident Magistrate Court on Thursday to answer a charge of posting an indecent video on her Instagram page.
Dar es Salaam. Socialite Wema Sepetu appeared before the Kisutu Residents’ Magistrate Court in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, November 01, 2018 to answer charges of posting an indecent video on her Instagram page.
Wema, who won the Miss Tanzania title in 2006, was brought to the Court at 10:00am but she was kept in the holding room until noon when she appeared before Resident Magistrate Maira Kasonde to answer a charge of posting an indecent video on her Instagram page.
She is alleged to have committed the offence on October 15, 2018.
Wema got into trouble after introducing her new man with a photo of them in bed followed by a video of them kissing passionately.
As soon as the video went viral, Wema came out and apologized to the nation but that did not bar the Tanzania Film Board from striking a ban on her.
The firm board has since banned Wema from acting and making films in the country for an unknown period of time.
A representative from the Tanzania Film Board Joyce Fissoo, said recently that the actress had disgraced and brought shame to the country’s national values with her lewd behaviour.
“The film board, as mandated by law, has decided to take the following action against Wema Sepetu: to lock her out of the acting and arts industry for an unknown period of time until the day the film board will be satisfied that she has corrected her behaviour. The film board will closely monitor her,” Fissoo said.
