Dar es Salaam. Twibhoki and Graiyaki Primary Schools which have been one of top schools in PSLE nationally have had their results cancelled by the National Examination Council of Tanzania (Necta) due to malpractice.

Both schools are from Serengeti in Mara Region.

In 2021 out of the top 10 best candidates five were from Twibhoki Primary School setting a record in recent years.

The two schools had dominated overall performances in the past five years, in 2020 the overall performer was from Graiyaki Primary School as the list further featured candidates from Twibhoki as the two schools posted a strong performance.

In another development, the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (Necta) has canceled the results of 31 candidates who sat for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) after it was found that they cheated during the exams.

Necta's executive secretary, Dr. Said Mohamed, announced the punishment during the release of the results in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, November 22.

He said that the punishment was given to the perpetrators as specified in the examination regulations of 2016 in article no 30 (2) (b) and Article no. 5 (2) (i) and (j) of the examination board's regulations, chapter 107.

"The council has been issuing warnings to candidates and exam centers as a precaution before issuing such a punishment to those who go against the council's instructions," he explained.

Dr. Mohamed said that NECTA has also written warning letters about cheating to four examination centers in the country.

These are St. Marys' Mbezi Beach Primary School, Mother of Mercy, located in Kinondoni council in Dar es Salaam region, Charm Modern Primary School located in Karatu in Arusha region, and Morotonga primary school located in Serengeti district, Mara region.

"Those centers will be under the supervision of NECTA until we are satisfied that they are safe centers for conducting national exams," he shared.

Last year, 22 exam centers were suspended and 2,194 candidates had their exam results canceled for cheating.
