TPA to employ 68 new staff

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) has announced 68 top managerial posts with a view to turning around its performance to maintain its competitiveness in the region.

According to an announcement by the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, the decision toc hire new staff was part of their port’s improvement strategy.

The statement further reads that TPA was established under the Ports

Act No. 17 of 2004, therefore the authority is vested with the obligation and responsibility of developing, managing and promoting the maritime sector in Tanzania mainland.

The major role of TPA is to enhance the advantages of the geographical position of Tanzania’s maritime resources.

TPA’s vision is to lead the regional maritime trade and logistics services to excellence and its mission is to develop and manage ports that provide world class maritime services and promote excelling logistics services in eastern, central and southern Africa.

In view of the above, TPA was looking for the director of planning, risk and quality management who will be in charge of providing technical expertise on corporate planning, risks management and quality assurance.

Other posts include director of engineering services, director of infrastructure planning and investment, director of marine and ports operations, director of human resource management and administration, director of procurement and contracts.

Others include director of internal audit, litigation service manager, civil engineering manager, electro- mechanical engineering manager, environment management manager , revenue manager, administration manager, marketing manager, public relations and communication manager, goods and non- consultancy services manager,

Other posts are board affairs officer, statistician, legal services officer, internal auditor, quality management officer, risk management officer, procurement officer and valuation officer

Others are marketing officer, customer care officer, fire and safety officer, accountant, management systems officer, salary grade, administrative officer, assistant laboratory technician, programmes officer, programme assistant, examinations officer, examinations assistant, library assistant, technicians, senior human resource officer, records management assistant, database administrator.
