Two Tanzanian women arrested for motorcycle robbery

Morogoro. Two women have been detained by the Morogoro Regional Police on charges of conspiring and using weapons to rob a motorcycle and Sh4,000 from a boda boda rider, Ndoni John, 32, of Kichangani Hamlet, Kiteto District in Manyara Region.
According to Morogoro Regional Police Commander Alex Mkama, the suspects are Farida Charles, 26, from Uchagani Street in Gairo, and Grace Chiduo, 24, from Sambweti Hamlet, Gairo.
The robbery took place on August 13 at around 6 p.m.
Mr Mkama said the women initially hired John, who was riding a black Houjue motorcycle with registration number MC 936 DRZ, from his local area in Sunya, Kiteto.
They directed him to take them to Sambweti in Gairo.
"While en route, the rider was suddenly ambushed by two men in the bushes, who were accomplices of the women.
They stopped him, attacked him with metal rods and machetes, and managed to steal both the motorcycle and the cash," Mkama explained.
Following the incident, Gairo District Police, in coordination with Kiteto Police, launched an intensive search operation.
By the evening of August 13, they had arrested the women with the stolen motorcycle and cash.
The suspects are currently being interrogated at the Gairo Police Station and will face legal proceedings.
The injured boda boda rider is reported to be recovering well after receiving medical treatment.
