Korogwe Urban MP-elect Mary Chatanda

Speaking in Korogwe recently, Chatanda, one of the women who managed to win the election through constituencies, said that time was now ripe for the government to cave to the demand of the people of Korogwe and upgrade Manundu into referral hospital because it has now become an important health facility catering for accident victims.

Korogwe. Korogwe Urban MP-elect Mary Chatanda has reiterated Korogwe residents’ call on the government to upgrade the district hospital at Manundu into referral status.
Speaking in Korogwe recently, Chatanda, one of the women who managed to win the election through constituencies, said that time was now ripe for the government to cave to the demand of the people of Korogwe and upgrade Manundu into referral hospital because it has now become an important health facility catering for accident victims.
“The hospital has become an important centre receiving for medical attention all sorts of patients because of its location along the highway connecting Dar es Salaam to Arusha, Tanga, and Nairobi. Its status must be raised to get more funds to cater for accident victims and referred patients from dispensaries and health centres,” she appealed.
Additionally, Chatanda called on the government to speed up procedures to upgrade Majengo Dispensary into a full health centre to ease congestion experienced at Manundu. She pointed out that patients were now rushing to Manundu for cases that could be treated at their dispensaries or health centres, which he said was not fair.
“Now, we must talk about building our own district hospital because Manundu caters for both urban and rural Korogwe local government councils,” she said.
Ms Chatanda also spoke about funds being allocated for youth and women development, saying that she would team up with councillors to demand that the council delivers on the issue.
“Young people cannot continue to cry over where they could find capital to set up income generating activities to raise their economic status when such funds are available, but not reaching them,” she stressed.
The new legislator warned council officials, saying she would not entertain laziness or friendship that would retard development of the people. Chatanda said, she would make sure that council executives serve the people efficiently.
