US Vice President Kamala Harris kicks off three-day visit to Tanzania

Dar es Salaam. US Vice President Kamala Harris has officially started her Tanzanian tour after landing at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) late Wednesday night.

Accompanied by her husband Douglas Emhoff, and other State Department staff, Ms Harris was received at the airport by Vice President Dr Philip Mpango.

Ms Harris will later meet and hold talks with her host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan at State House in Dar es Salaam.

US Vice President Kamala Harris and her delegation will also pay a visit to the National Museums of Tanzania (NMT) as well as meet Tanzanian youth entrepreneurs and representatives of civil society.

Posting on her official social media pages, US Vice President Ms Harris expressed her delight at visiting Tanzania for the first time. 

Ms Harris spent the first three days of her visit to Africa. She is also scheduled to visit Zambia before flying back to the US on Sunday.

The VP landed in Air Force Two, the official C-32, which is a customized military version of a commercial Boeing 757-200. The 155-foot jet plane has a communications centre, a stateroom, and 32 seats for journalists.
