Vodacom Tanzania picks Hendi as acting managing director

Dar es Salaam. Vodacom Tanzania, the DSE-listed company, has on Friday, September 7, announced the appointment of Mr Hishim Hendi as the acting managing director.

A public notice published on September 7 on Mwananchi says Mr Hendi’s appointment starts effectively from September 1, this year.

He will hold the position until completion of recruitment processes of the new managing director, according to the public notice.

“Mr Hendi, joined Vodacom in 2016 as the director of Consumer Business Unit. He has over 15 working experience in business especially in the area of communications, including holding senior positions in the Vodafone and Vodacom Groups,” reads part of the statement.

His appointment comes after Ms Sylvia Mulinge, who was appointed to succeed Mr Ian Ferrao with effect from June 1, this year has failed to secure some important working documents.

However, Mr Hendi who received his bachelor degree at the Cairo University, was recruited in 2016 to lead both marketing and sales functions.

“We brought him aboard due to his expertise and experience. Having worked in various capacities in other Vodacom operations in Africa and beyond, he understands the ins and outs of our commercial operations. With his leadership in the commercial area, our customers can expect can expect more valuable products and services that will address all their communications needs,” Mr Ferrao was quoted describing Mr Hendi.
