Dodoma. Yanga SC president, Hersi Said, has once again seen his bid for a parliamentary seat cut short after failing to make it onto the shortlist of 13 aspirants for the Kongwa constituency.
Hersi was among 24 CCM members who had applied for the seat, but his name was dropped along with 11 others in the latest round of the ruling party’s nomination process. Making the cut was Isaya Mngurumi, who placed second in the August 4, 2025, party primaries.
Earlier in the day, Kongwa District CCM secretary Joyce Mkaugala confirmed that Hersi had been in the race, urging members to await official communication. “It’s true Hersi was among the parliamentary aspirants. Let’s wait for the next procedures; we will inform you once the names are confirmed so campaigns can begin,” she said.
However, the final shortlist released later did not include Hersi’s name, nor that of teacher Deus Seif, who came third in the primaries.
This marks the second time Hersi has been eliminated from CCM’s internal vetting process this election cycle. He had earlier sought nomination in Kigamboni constituency but was left out when the party’s Secretary for Ideology and Publicity, Amos Makala, announced the successful aspirants.
The Kongwa nomination process was reopened following the death of retired Speaker of the National Assembly and former MP, Job Ndugai, who had won the constituency’s primaries.
