Z’bar backs Kikwete on EAC stand

Speaking to members of the House of Representatives who are meeting at Chukwani, the minister of State in the President’s Office (Good Governance), Dr Mwinyihaji Makame Mwadini, said that the government would continue “walking together” with others in the regional bloc.

Zanzibar. The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has reiterated its support to President Jakaya Kikwete’s stand on the East Africa Community (EAC), saying that his position regarding the running of the affairs of the regional bloc reflects the views of Isles as well.

Speaking to members of the House of Representatives who are meeting at Chukwani, the minister of State in the President’s Office (Good Governance), Dr Mwinyihaji Makame Mwadini, said that the government would continue “walking together” with others in the regional bloc.

He was responding to a question posed by Special Seats MP, Ms Mgeni Hassan Juma (CCM), who wanted to know the position of Zanzibar in the face of the challenge posed by the so-called Coalition of the Willing comprising three countries, namely Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.

The “coalition” has been reaching agreements on EAC bloc without involving Tanzania and Burundi.
