Nyasa. CCM presidential running mate Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday claimed there was a plot to disrupt the next General Election by preventing people to go to the polling centres.
Without mentioning anyone, she told residents in Nyasa District at a campaign rally held at Tingi Village that there were groups of people visiting families to intimidate them for fear of defeat.
“I want to assure you that we are well prepared and security officials are also vigilant to ensure that no one is hurt on that day,” she said.
Accordig to Ms Hassan, she has received information that there are residents who were being intimidated to ensure that they do not show up on the voting day.
“Do not be cowed, the government will ensure that your security is guaranteed and I therefore urge you to turn up in big numbers to vote for CCM presidential, parliamentary and civic candidates.
She further asked voters to ensure that peace, security and tranquillity prevailed. “Let us ensure that we conduct our campaigns in a peacefully manner in order that our country’s peace that we have enjoyed for many years is not disrupted,” she added.
“I also want to ask you to be defenders of your areas so that whoever tries to invade your families is facing the music,” said Ms Hassan.
The CCM running mate took time to convince residents of Nyasa and Mbinga districts residents to vote for CCM presidential candidate John Magufuli, saying he had what it takes to lead the nation.
“Mr Magufuli has served this nation as a minister in different dockets for many years and he has never been implicated in any corruption scandal,” she said.
In both districts, Ms Hassan said if elected to form the next government, CCM would ensure different sectors are improved.
