Romeo breaks his eight previous swimming records

Dar es Salaam. The up and coming Tanzania swimmer, Romeo Mihaly Asubisye has broken eight national records in the Tanzania Junior Swimming Championships ((TANJC).

Romeo (11) who swims for Champion Rise swimming club located at Upanga in the city also was named the top swimmer in his age category after scoring 200 points in the event which has been organized by Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA).

The Tanzanian pride swimmer, recorded 37.46 in the 50 meters butterfly to break the national record of 39.96 set by himself in January 26 this year before breaking another national record after recording 1.28.00 in 100m Individual Medley (IM). The national record was 1.32.49.

The promising swimmer also broke 100m Breaststroke national record after clocking 1.40.09 to beat his previous record of 1.45.40 set in January 26.

He also broke 100m butterfly after clocking 1.28.80 to break his previous record of 1.42.13 as well as setting new time in 50m Breaststroke with 43.24 to beat the previous record of 44.53.

Romeo also set new time in 50m Backstroke with 40.60 to beat the previous record of 43.69 as well as 100m Freestyle after clocking 1.14.89 to beat the January 26 record of 1:23.07 and also broke the record in 50m Freestyle after clocking 33.05 to beat the previous record of 35.03.

The top male swimmer in his age category also scored 200 points to win overall trophy. He was followed by Bruefins duos, Isaac Mukani who collected 178 and Sahal Harunani with 138 points.

Also in the top five are Oskar Ericksson of Taliss-IST who scored 82 points and Nabeel Gahhu of Dar es Salaam Swimming Club (DSC) who collected 64 points.

Champion Rise Coordinator, Justus August said Romeo’s results show that the swimmer is still improving and in the next few years will be one of the best swimmers in the country.
