Aziz Ki, Fei Toto renew rivalry for next month’s TFF awards

Dar es Salaam. The attacking midfielder of football giants Young Africans (Yanga), Stephane Aziz Ki,  and his Azam FC counterpart, Feisal “Fei Toto” Salum, have renewed rivalry for the Tanzania Football Federations (TFF) 2024 awards.

The two players locked horns for last season’s NBC Mainland Premier League golden boot award before Aziz Ki from Burkina Faso emerging at the top with 21 goals against Fei Toto’s 19.

According to a statement issued by TFF yesterday, the two players have locked horns again in three categories ahead of the awards scheduled to take place on August 1 at Masaki’s The Super Dome in Dar es Salaam.

As per the award list, the two players are contesting for the best attacking midfielders award together with former Azam FC player Kipre Junior, who has joined MC Algiers of Algeria.

The two players  will also contest for the CRDB Federation Cup’s best player award with Clement Mzize, Ibrahim “Bacca” Hamad, both from Yanga, and Kipre Junior.

Apart from the two categories, Aziz Ki and Fei Toto are also vying for the best player award of the NBC Premier League. Also on the list are Djigui Diarra, Ibrahim “Bacca” Hamad, Yao Kouassi (Yanga), Kipre Junior, Ley Matampi (Coastal Union) and Mohamed “Tshabalala” Hussein of Simba.

The awards also include other categories such as best goalkeepers in CRDB Federation Cup where by Yanga’s Djigui Diarra, Abubakar Khomeiny (Singida Black Stars, now joined Yanga) and Mohammed Mustafa of Azam FC are contesting.

Also, the best scorer award of the CRDB Federation Cup will be contested by Clement Mzize and Edward Songo of JKT Tanzania. The two players each scored five goals.

In the NBC Premier League, the best goalkeeper’s award is to be contested by three goalkeepers namely Ayoub Lakred of Simba, Ley Matampu (Coastal Union) and Djigui Diarra of Yanga.

Yanga head coach Miguel Gamondi has been nominated for the best coach’s award together with David Ouma of Coastal Union and Bruno Ferry of Azam FC. The 2023/2024 season squad will also  be announced during the gala night.

There will also be the best goal and fair play awards during the gala night while Singida Black Stars (Ihefu), Kagera Sugar and Mtibwa Sugar will be contesting for the most discipline award.

There will also be the best player award for Tanzania players who are now playing abroad. The category has nominated Mbwana Samatta, Novatus Dismas and Himid Mao Mkami in the men’s category while in the women’s are Clara Luvanda, Aisha Masaka and Oppah Clement.

The top scorer award for women has the sole contender who is Aisha Mnunka of Simba Queens. Mnuka scored 20 goals last season.

The best goalkeeper nominees are Najath Abbas (JKT Queens), Caroline Rufaa (Simba Queens), and Mariam Shabaan (Bunda Queens).

Nominees for the Women's League best player award are Aisha Mnunka, Violet Nicholaus, and Vivian Corazone from Simba Queens, Stumai Abdallah from JKT Queens, and Kaeda Wilson, formerly with Yanga Princess.

The best coach nominees in the Women's League are Juma Mgunda (Simba Queens), Ester Chabruma (JKT Queens), and Noah Kanyoga of Ceasia Queens. The best team will be announced during the event.

The best young player nominees are Ester Maseke and Bituro Mgosi from Bunda Queens, and Lydia Kabambo from JKT Queens.
