Dar es Salaam. The star of Young Africans (Yanga) attacking midfielder, Stephane Aziz, has continued to shine brightly after the player won his third award in the ongoing Tanzania Mainland Premier League.

The Burkinabe star was previously named the best player of March by the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB), becoming the first player to win the award consecutively this season. His first award was in October last year.

As per records, Aziz Ki has received a total of Sh3 million from the main sponsor of the Tanzania Mainland League, NBC Bank, since the start of the 2023/2024 season.

According to a statement issued by TPLB, Aziz Ki has won the award after outperforming teammate Joseph Guede and Kipre Junior of Azam FC.

The statement said Aziz Ki helped his team to win three league matches out of four to collect 10 points.

Yanga won 3-0 over Singida Fountain Gate FC before securing a 2-1 victory over their bitter rivals, Simba, and later won 1-0 over Coastal Union. Yanga also played to a goalless draw against JKT Tanzania.

Currently, Aziz Ki is tied with Azam FC attacking midfielder Feisal Salum "Fei Toto" in the golden boot award race, with each scoring 15 goals.

The records also show that Aziz Ki has scored all his goals in 22 matches compared to Fei Toto's 24.

Fei Toto, who is now neck and neck with Aziz Ki, has only won one monthly Tanzania Mainland Premier League award so far.

Azizi Ki has played a total of 1,730 minutes, while Fei Toto has done that in 1,992 minutes, with each recording seven assists and contributing to 22 goals.

Besides Aziz Ki, Yanga head coach Miguel Gamondi has won the best coach award for April.

Gamondi secured the award by beating Azam FC head coach Bruno Ferry, and JKT Tanzania's Malale Hamsin. Also, on the list of the award winners is Azam Complex manager Amir Juma, who won the best award.

Aziz Ki expressed his joy at achieving personal success while his team performing well, given their good position to defend the Mainland Premier League title.

"I joined Yanga with one purpose: to ensure that my team improves and performs well. This gives me the strength to continue striving for excellence, which contributes to achieving personal success such as winning awards," he said.

"Winning awards and achieving results with my team are the most important things; I thank teammates for the great cooperation they have been giving me. Building success together with them, my success is that of the entire team; I cannot excel without them," said the player.
