Excitement as NCBA Bank Tanzania Open golf tees off
Dar es Salaam. Foreign golfers from seven countries are today expected to compete in the NCBA Bank Tanzania Open tournament at the renowned Kilimanjaro Golf and Wildlife Estate Course, commonly known as the Kili Golf Course in Arusha.
The countries are Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Malawi. According to the list released by Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) chairman Gilman Kasiga, 18 professional golfers are from Kenya, six from Uganda and four from Zimbabwe.
Zambia and Rwanda have each contributed three golfers while Malawi and South Africa are each represented by one golfer. The golfers will join 13 others from Tanzania in the event.
Kasiga said most golfers have arrived in Arusha ahead of the event sponsored by NCBA Bank, Vodacom Tanzania, and Serengeti Breweries' Johnnie Walker.
Professional golfers from Kenya are Eric Obura, Robinson Owiti, Greg Snow, Mike Kisia, Jeff Kubwa, Joseph Waweru, Nelson Simwa, David Wakhu, Justus Madoya, Jacob Okello, Daniel Nduva, Rashid Salim, Hesbon Kutwa, Ali Khimji, Samwel Njoroge, Denis Saikwa and Edwin Mudanyi.
Golfers from Rwanda are Celestine Nsazuwera, Nshimyumuremyi Emile and Morton Muwowo while golfers from Uganda are Vicent Byamukama, Koto James, Ronald Rugumayo, Kamulindwa David, Kibirige Marvin and Bagalana Hussein.
Also, on the list are Zimbabwean golfers Tatenda Makunde, Promise Sombeiro, Morton Kombai and Liberty Gumisa. There are also Symon Mosses from Malawi and Jules Helary from South Africa.
Zambian golfers are Sydney Wemba, TC Charamba, and Kelly Tembo. Tanzanian golfers are Bryson Nyenza, Rajabu Pembe, Nuru Mollel, Elisante Lembris, Frank Roman and Johny Said.
Also, Tanzania has Frank Mwinuka, Iddi Mzaki, Fadhyl Nkya, Salum Dilunga, Athumani Chihundu, Isack Wanyeche, Hassan Kadio and John Leonce.
“There shall be a cut after two round for professional players and 22 players plus ties will progress for next two rounds. We are expecting a thrilling event due to the number of professional golfers confirmed to compete in the event,” said Kasiga.
