Dar es Salaam. Former Kickboxing World Champion Japhet Kaseba and renowned boxer, Karim Mandonga are set to headline a charity boxing event aimed at supporting community health insurance.

Organized by Lady in Red Promotion in partnership with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and the Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF), the event is scheduled to take place at the end of this month.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam, the event's promoter and Member of Parliament (Special Seats), Ms Sofia Mwakagenda, said the purpose of the boxing matches was to assist underprivileged individuals in accessing health insurance.

She underscored the importance of community support and urged other promoters to contribute to alleviating various challenges faced by the community.

"The event will feature thrilling boxing entertainment on July 28, with matches planned across four regions: Geita, Pwani, Dodoma, and Mbeya," Mwakagenda announced.

The decision to hold the fights in these regions rather than Dar es Salaam reflects a strategy to address the pressing needs of less-attended areas.

"Geita, in particular, aligns with our primary objective. While Dar es Salaam often receives support due to its proximity, there are other regions that require more attention," she added.

Veteran boxer Japhet Kaseba expressed his dedication to the cause, stating, "This cause resonates deeply with me. When I learned that the fights aim to benefit the community, I felt compelled to take action. I reached out to my sister Mwakagenda, and I am fully committed to working with her to ensure the success of this initiative."

Joining Kaseba in this charitable endeavor are notable boxers such as Ibra "Class" Ibra Mawe, Karim Mandonga, Mada Maugo, Issa Mollel, and Tatiana, promising an event that combines sportsmanship with a meaningful impact on the community.
