Lugalo shines bright at PWC golf tournament

Dar es Salaam. Hosts Lugalo Club came up trumps over the weekend when its golfers won almost all categories of the PWC tournament.
Rick Park was unquestionably the happiest man after the end of the competition after being declared the overall winner. Park scored two under par net 70 at the two-day tournament, which brought together over 150 golfers. He was playing off 10 handicap.
Speaking after being declared the overall winner, Park said he was overjoyed with the victory and promised to replicate his form at forthcoming events.
“I played really good golf today and everything was just going right for me on the course. I am very happy for this feat,” Park said.
The tournament, which attracted golfers from different clubs across the country, saw Aidan Nziku from Dar Gymkhana Club emerge the gross winner after firing over par 73 strokes.
The host club’s brilliance was also extended to the A Division, which went to Shaban Kibuna who returned 73 strokes.
The second position went to Fotty Gwebe who carded 76 net.
Nicholaus Chitanda also from Lugalo chalked 70 strokes net to win the B Division, beating Ally Sharif on count back. Sharif returned a similar score.
“It was a closely fought event, but I thank God that I finally made it. Sharif is a good golfer; he put me under pressure throughout the tournament. I hope next time it will be his time,” said Chitanda at the end of the 18th hole.
The C Division title went to Kevin Manhuwa from Lugalo who penned 71 net followed by Andrew Jotten also from the same club with one under par net 71 strokes. Lugalo’s colourful day was capped by Sara Dennis who claimed the Ladies Divison after scoring 71 net strokes while the runner-up spot was taken by Amina Hamis (73).
Sara said that the victory had inspired her to train even harder for next tournaments.
