Dar es Salaam. Simba Sports Club chairman Murtaza Mangungu has said they are waiting for the appointment of investor-side board members before selecting the chairman of the board.

Mangungu also said so far no board member selected by the club's members has resigned from their positions.

Mangungu's statement comes after the resignation of the former chairman of the club’s board of directors from the investor side, Salim "Try Again" Abdallah.

“It is true that currently there is no chairman of the club's board, and I cannot advise “Try Again” and other investor-side members to change their decisions. Those are personal decisions that stem from individual perspectives as well.

“For now, we are waiting for the investor side to choose other members according to procedures, and the chairman will be elected based on the votes cast,” said Mangungu.

He clarified that the issue of the board chairman is a process and cannot be handled through mere appointments.

"We have our procedures which are in accordance with regulations. The aim here is to have leadership that follows these procedures, it is not about Mangungu, but it is about procedures,” he insisted.

He added that the club's leadership remains strong despite facing calls from members and fans to resign.

"As for the club leaders who are under me, we are still in office, and this is based on the mandate given to us by the members. No one has resigned so far, as I have not received any letter of resignation.

“They and I will continue to lead the club according to the existing procedures. It must also be known that every person or leader has their own decisions.

“So, if a leader resigns, I will respect their decision, as it will be in accordance with the procedures," he said.
