Paris Saint-Germain's Achraf Hakimi visits Tanzania for a seven-day tour

Dar es Salaam. Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi is in Tanzania for a seven-day visit.

Hakimi, who helped his team win their twelfth Ligue 1 title, was welcomed by Hersi Said, President of Tanzania’s Mainland League champions Yanga, at Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Hersi then accompanied Hakimi and his friends to various tourist attractions in Tanzania.

This is the second time Yanga’s president has met Hakimi.

Hakimi joins other prominent individuals who have already visited Tanzania's tourist attractions.

Hersi, who is the President of the African Clubs Association (ACA), first met Hakimi on January 3, 2024, in Paris, France, following an invitation from PSG’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who is also the President of the European Clubs Association.

During his stay in Paris, Hersi also watched the Trophée des Champions final, which ended with PSG winning the title with a 2-0 victory over Toulouse. In addition to Hakimi, Hersi also met with Kylian Mbappe, who has joined Real Madrid.


Who is Achraf Hakimi

Hakimi who was born on November 4, 1998 is a Spanish-Moroccan professional footballer who plays as a right-back or right winger for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Morocco national team.

He is widely regarded as one of the best full-backs in the world.

Hakimi began playing for Real Madrid Castilla in 2016 and was promoted to the first-team in 2017.

He was sent on a two-year loan deal to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, winning the DFL-Supercup in 2019.

He then signed with Serie A side Inter Milan for a reported fee of €40 million, helping the club win the 2020–21 Serie A title, their first in 11 years.

Paris Saint-Germain then signed him in 2021 for a reported fee of €60 million.

Born in Spain to Morocco parents, Hakimi was capped by Morocco at the under-20 level, before making his senior international debut in 2016 aged 17.

He was chosen in Morocco's squads for the FIFA World Cup twice (in 2018 and 2022), and the Africa Cup of Nations three times (in 2019, 2021 and 2023).

Early life

Hakimi was born in Madrid, Spain. His mother, Saida Mouh, is from Guelmim region of Morocco and his father, Hassan Hakimi, is from Ksar el-kébir. Hakimi joined Real Madrid's youth setup in 2006 from Colonia Ofigevi, aged eight.
