Dar es Salaam. Tanzania giants, Simba are reportedly finalizing an agreement with Moroccan side AS Forces Armées Royales de Rabat (FAR Rabat) to acquire Congolese defender Henock Inonga Baka.

According to information obtained by The Citizen, leaders from the Moroccan club have initiated discussions with Simba, indicating positive progress in the negotiations.

Reports suggest that Simba hasve offered a substantial sum exceeding Sh400 million to secure the player. However, financial considerations appear to be a sticking point for FAR Rabat, who are still in talks regarding the deal. Inonga still has a valid contract with Simba.

"Our club intends to permit Inonga to depart pending the ongoing negotiations. We are planning to bring in new players who will strengthen the team for the upcoming league season. We are confident of finalizing the deal," a source revealed.

Simba are currently restructuring its squad, bidding farewell to several players, including John Bocco, Shaaban Chilunda, Kennedy Juma, Saido Ntibazonkiza, and Luis Miquissone.

However, the club face challenges in finding replacements for Inonga and Kennedy Juma following the unsuccessful attempt to secure Coastal Union defender Lameck Lawi.

Simba's information officer, Ahmed Ally, recently announced the signing of Lawi on a three-year deal. However, Coastal Union quickly refuted the claim, asserting that Lawi was not available for transfer.

According to Simba, all necessary procedures, including payment of signing fees and club dues, were completed for Lawi's recruitment.

Coastal Union chairman Steven Mguto disputed these assertions, stating that no official release letter had been issued to Simba for Lawi's transfer.

"This is misinformation. There was no agreement or release letter provided to Simba by Coastal Union. Due to incomplete negotiations, Coastal Union explored other options," Mguto clarified.

This incident highlights the complexities of player transfers in football, emphasizing the importance of adherence to proper procedures and transparent communication between clubs to prevent misunderstandings and disputes.
