Dar es Salaam. Minister of Culture, Arts, and Sports, Damas Ndumbaro, has praised Young Africans (Yanga) for their significant achievements in the recently concluded Mainland Tanzania Premier League season and CRDB Federation Cup.

Additionally, Ndumbaro attributed Simba's lacklustre performance in the league season to the high standards displayed by players from Yanga and Azam FC.

Minister Ndumbaro made the remarks while addressing Yanga’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today, June 9, 2024, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC).

He attributed the club's success to effective leadership under President Hersi Said and meticulous planning that garnered support from both team members and fans.

"It is evident that Yanga and Azam FC, who clinched the first two positions in the recently concluded Mainland Tanzania Premier League, owe their success to effective leadership.

Yanga and Azam FC have raised their standards, overshadowing Simba, who have remained stagnant.

"Success isn't cultivated like soil; it is built and achieved by individuals. Therefore, I extend my congratulations to Hersi, the entire management, and their sponsor, GSM," Ndumbaro remarked.

He further highlighted Yanga's leadership role in guiding the club to the finals of the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2022/2023 season.

"Had they not been denied a goal against Mamelodi, they would have progressed to the CAF Champions League finals," Ndumbaro added.

Ndumbaro also acknowledged Simba's qualification for the group stage and quarterfinals of the previous edition of the CAF Champions League, stating, "Simba should learn from this and restructure.
