Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s Magnet Youth Sports Academy (MYSA) B14B and B16 teams have qualified for Gothia Cup playoffs in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The two teams managed to top their groups after winning all three group stage matches to collect the maximum points.

MYSA’s B14B managed to collect nine points while MYSA’s B16 collected seven points.

The competition’s standings show that B14B team started the group stage with a bang after winning 2-0 over Fassbergs IF before recording a 3-0 victory over Hovas-Billdal IF 1 in their second match. The team also recorded a 2-0 win over Barkaro SK in the match played today, July 19, 2023.

For their part, the B16 side started with a 3-0 victory over Apollon Halandriou 1 and later drew 2-2 against SC Borgfekd eV and later won 11-0 over Tullinge TP.

The Tanzanian team will meet Live Your World Cup Football Club of France in the first playoff.

The team’s chairman, Tuntufye Mwambusi, commended the players for their impressive performance in the group stage and he said he is expecting them to shine in the playoffs.

He said the players played well and are in the winning spirit ahead of the next round of the competition, which is expected to be tough.

The Gothia Cup is an international youth association football tournament organized by professional football club BK Häcken that has been held annually since 1975 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

It is considered the biggest tournament in the world featuring youth teams from across the world.

The tournament is also Sweden's largest annual competition, whose opening ceremony took place at the Ullevi Stadium, attracting 50,000 spectators and international football players, while 1,100 volunteers guarantee that this will remain the international football competition of all international football tournaments.
