Yanga face tricky test of Singida Big Stars in Mainland League

Dar es Salaam. The Mainland NBC Premier League defending champions, Young Africans (Yanga), today face the acidic test of Singida Big Stars at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The Yanga-Singida match will kick off at 6.30pm and each team will likely be targeting victory in order to improve their position in the league standings.
The encounter is expected to be thrilling and tough because of the records of both teams that face each other for the third time in the league with Yanga winning all.
They met on November 17 last year and Yanga won 4-1 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. Yanga also won 2-0 on May 4, this year, at the Liti Stadium in the second round of the league.
Besides the Mainland Premier League, Yanga met Singida Big Stars in the Azam Federation Cup semifinals and won 1-0 at the Liti Stadium on May 21, this year.
Basically, Yanga have dominated their encounters against Singida Big Stars to make today’s game a tricky one to them as the Singida lads will likely be seeking revenge.
Currently, Yanga are at the top of the league standings with 15 points from six matches and victory in today’s encounter will make them collect 18 points.
Singida Big Stars, who are placed ninth in the league log after playing six matches, will also be targeting victory to be placed in the fourth position in the league standings, depending on their scores.
Speaking on the eve of the match, Yanga head coach Miguel Gamondi said he is confident that he will conquer the game and continue to hold the top position in the league table.
“We have the obligation of winning every match in the league.
Singida BS assistant coach Thabo Senong said they are aware that the match is going to be very tough, but added that his players are in high morale to face the challenge.
He said they respect Yanga, but their prime task is to win the game and go up the third place.
