Azam FC players depart for Tunisia for pre-season camp

Dar es Salaam. Twenty seven players of Azam Football Club leave the country today for Tunisia ahead of their 20-day pre-season training for the next season of the Tanzania Mainland Premier League.
The players are Ali Ahamada, Idrisu Abdullahi, Zubery Foba, Khamis Yassin, Lusajo Mwaikenda, Nathan Chilambo, Cheikh Sidibe, Pascal Msindo and Malickou Ndoye.
Also, on the list are Abdallah Kheri Sebo, Daniel Amoah, Edward Manyama, Issa Ndala, Sospeter Bajana, James Akaminko, Tape Edigno, Feisal Salum, Djibil Sillah and Kipre Junior.
Prince Dube, Idris Mbombo, Tepsi Evans, Idd Nado, Ayubu Lyanga, Abdul Sopu and Alassane Diao also jet off today.
Speaking with The Citizen yesterday, Azam FC Media and Information Officer Thabit “Zaka Zakazi” Zakaria said, apart from intensive training, the team will play five build up matches while in Souse.
While in Tunisia, he said they are expecting to play against tough teams with the aim of gauging the skills and fitness levels of their players before they return to the country ahead of the Charity Shield matches scheduled to take place in Tanga Region.
Apart from the Tanzania Mainland Premier League and the Charity Shield matches, Azam FC are also preparing for the CAF Confederation Cup and the Azam Federation Cup as well.
“Preparations for the trip are complete and all the players have been medically examined as per the rules and regulations and are all fit. We are expecting to have the best training ahead f the next league season,” said Zakaria.
Azam FC finished third in the 2022/23 Premier League season, 19 points behind the champions, Yanga, and 14 points behind the runners-up, Simba SC.
