CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe has on Friday, hosted a successful meeting with the chairmen and senior representatives of the 60 most successful and biggest football clubs in Africa to discuss the formation of the African Club Association (ACA).

The ACA is a new initiative that aims to protect and promote the interests of African Football Clubs, ensure that they are commercially viable, globally competitive, and profitable, and ensure that referees, match commissioners, and VAR operators are respected, credible, independent, and world-class.

The ACA will also build partnerships with sponsors, the private sector, and governments to build stadiums that comply with CAF and FIFA standards and other football infrastructure and facilities in each of the 54 CAF Member Associations.

It will also develop African youth talent, academies for boys and girls, and improve the quality of African Club football to be world-class.

Dr Motsepe said that CAF is deeply committed to working with African Football Clubs, governments, sponsors, businesses, and CAF's 54 Member Associations to ensure that Football Clubs in Africa are commercially viable, globally competitive, and profitable.

He also said that CAF is implementing interventions to make the quality of African Club Football appealing and attractive to football spectators and TV viewers in Africa and globally.

The meeting with the Chairmen and senior representatives of the most successful and biggest Clubs in Africa was beneficial and very interactive as they made numerous important comments and suggestions to promote the interest of African Club Football.

Dr Motsepe said that the formation of the ACA will significantly improve and increase the communication and cooperation between CAF and African Football Clubs. He also said that the future of African Clubs is bright.

CAF will host an in-person meeting with the Chairmen and Presidents of the most successful and biggest Football clubs in Africa during December this year where the African Club Association (“ACA”) will be launched.

The CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba and senior CAF staff were present in the meeting and are working on preparations for the launch of the African Clubs Association (“ACA”) in December this year.

The launch of the ACA is a significant development for African club football. The ACA has the potential to play a major role in improving the quality of African club football, making it more competitive and attractive to fans and investors alike.

The ACA could also help to increase the commercial viability of African clubs, making them more sustainable in the long term.
