  • Fei Toto had been heavily linked with a return to Young Africans (Yanga), but that move ultimately fell through. Simba SC were later reported to be interested in recruiting him for the new season, while South African giants Kaizer Chiefs were also reportedly monitoring his situation.

Dar es Salaam. Azam FC have confirmed that attacking midfielder Feisal Salum ‘Fei Toto’ will remain with the club, signing a one-year contract extension reportedly worth Sh800 million.

The deal ensures that one of the league’s most influential players continues to play a pivotal role in Azam FC’s ambitions, both on and off the pitch, as the club aims to maintain its status as a top contender in Tanzanian football.

Fei Toto had been heavily linked with a return to Young Africans (Yanga), but that move ultimately fell through. Simba SC were later reported to be interested in recruiting him for the new season, while South African giants Kaizer Chiefs were also reportedly monitoring his situation.

Despite attention from these high-profile rivals, Azam acted decisively to retain him, demonstrating the club’s commitment to keeping key talent and building a squad capable of competing for league and continental honours.

A source within the club revealed that the renewal includes a significant salary increase, a substantial signing bonus.

However, the team’s information officer, Thabit Zacharia, alias Zaka Zakazi, clarified that Fei Toto remains under contract and much of the transfer speculation was merely rumors.

“He is still contracted with our team, so Yanga, Simba, and other clubs had not submitted any official offers to us,” Zacharia explained.

This statement confirms that the player’s future was never truly in doubt, despite widespread media reports.

Since joining Azam from Yanga two seasons ago, Fei Toto has been a consistent performer. In his debut season, he helped Azam finish second in the league with 19 goals and three assists.

Last season, he contributed four goals and 13 assists, cementing his role as the team’s creative engine and a driving force behind its attacking play.

By retaining Fei Toto, Azam FC send a clear message to their rivals: they are serious about sustaining competitiveness and challenging for honours.
