Dar es Salaam. Azam FC have ruled out the possibility of midfielder Feisal “Fei Toto” Salum leaving the club amid growing speculation linking him with Mainland champions Young Africans (Yanga) and Simba.
The Chamazi-based club said that they had not received an offer from either Yanga or Simba for the Tanzania international and insisted that the player remains committed to Azam.
Azam assistant chief executive officer Rashid Seif said Fei Toto is still an Azam player and is fully involved in the club’s preparations for the 2026/2027 season.
“What I can say is that Feisal is an Azam FC player and will remain our player. He is with the team in camp, and the team will arrive today and reach Arusha to begin preparations for the Mainland Tanzania Premier League,” said Seif.
His comments come amid intense speculation over Fei Toto’s future, with Yanga supporters increasingly convinced that the midfielder could join the champions before the transfer window closes on August 15.
The midfielder has been strongly linked with Yanga in recent weeks, while Simba have also emerged as a possible destination.
The Yanga speculation gained momentum after the club used the phrase “number six” in its communication about its recruitment plans.
The reference has attracted attention because Fei Toto wears the number six shirt at Azam, prompting sections of Yanga’s membership and supporters to interpret it as a possible hint that the club is pursuing the midfielder.
The speculation intensified after Yanga media manager Ally Kamwe was quoted as saying, without naming the player: “A player we have pursued for a long time, the deal has now become possible.”
The remarks have fuelled belief among Yanga supporters that the club could finally be close to signing a player it has pursued for some time.
Fei Toto has since become one of the most discussed names in Yanga’s transfer plans, with social media further fuelling the speculation.
Some supporters have claimed that a deal is close, while others have linked the midfielder with Simba, making his future one of the biggest talking points of the current transfer window.
Azam, however, have maintained that there is no agreement with either club. Seif’s statement also suggests that Fei Toto remains fully integrated into Azam’s preparations, with the club expecting him to continue with the squad as they step up their preparations in Arusha.
The club’s position presents a major hurdle for Yanga and Simba should either side seek to sign the midfielder before the August 15 deadline.
Fei Toto remains one of the most sought-after players in Tanzanian football after establishing himself as an influential midfielder at both club and international level.
His technical ability, experience, and understanding of the domestic game have made him an attractive target for the country’s leading clubs. For Yanga, signing Fei Toto would add further quality to a squad preparing to defend the Mainland Premier League title and compete in continental football.
For Simba, his arrival would strengthen their midfield as they seek to challenge Yanga domestically and improve their continental campaign.
However, with the transfer window closing on August 15, Azam’s message remains clear: they have received no offer from Yanga or Simba, Fei Toto remains their player, and they expect him to stay at the club for the new season.
