Ihefu targets to end Yanga’s unbeaten run in league clash

Dar es Salaam. Defending champions Young Africans (Yanga) face a tricky test today against Ihefu FC in the ongoing Mainland Tanzania NBC Premier League at the Highland Estate Stadium in Mbeya at 4pm.
The match is expected to be thrilling, and each team will likely be targeting victory in order to improve their position in the league standings.
Yanga are now placed at the top with 32 points from 12 matches, while Ihefu FC are at the bottom of the league standings with nine points from 13 matches.
As per the league log, a victory against Ihefu FC makes the Jangwani Street giants three points up against the second-placed Azam FC, who have also collected 32 points from 14 matches. Yanga will also extend their league’s unbeaten streak to 50 games. Yanga’s victory will also allow them to increase their lead by four points against their traditional rivals, Simba, who are placed third after collecting 31 points from 14 matches.
Yanga’s head coach, Nesreddine Nabi, said all of his players are in good shape to produce good results in the encounter. He said players are aware of their commitment to the encounter, in which they have promised to fight hard and come out with good results.
“It is one of our important matches in the league. We need to stretch our muscles in order to win the game,” said Nabi.
He said Ihefu FC are a strong team, and they should not underestimate them due to their position in the league.
Yanga will depend on their leading scorer, Fiston Mayele, who has so far scored 10 goals from 12 matches.
Ihefu FC head coach Juma Mwambusi said they are taking the encounter seriously in order to emerge victorious. He said they are facing strong opposition from Yanga.
“My players are ready for the match and have promised to come out with a good result. It is a very important match for us because we are not in a safe position in the league table,” said Mwambusi.
Mwambusi said their target is to draw or record a victory in the league against one of the biggest football teams in the country.
