  • According to information received by The Citizen and confirmed by Samatta’s agent in Tanzania, Jamal Kisongo, KRC Genk has agreed to release the player to any interested club in Europe despite the fact that his two-year-contract is still valid.

Dar es Salaam. A Spanish Premier League side, Levante, plans to recruit Tanzania’s Taifa Stars skipper, Mbwana Samatta.

The Spanish side aside, Samatta is also on the radar of a Russian side, CSKA Moscow, which will feature in the EUFA champion’s league.

According to information received by The Citizen and confirmed by Samatta’s agent in Tanzania, Jamal Kisongo, KRC Genk has agreed to release the player to any interested club in Europe despite the fact that his two-year-contract is still valid.

Kisongo said Samatta’s deal is under various agents in Europe especially, David Torres, Nicholas Onise and Louis Alonso.

He said Levante want Samatta to strengthen their striking force as the deal is going on well, despite a huge package from CSKA Moscow. He said CSKA Moscow’s deal is double that of Levante’s, but, he added, there are benefits for the player in Laliga Santander. The Samatta offer is around 4 million euros.

“Three famous agents in Europe are discussing the deal, there is an advantage for Samatta to feature in UEFA’s Champions League if he will join CSKA Moscow, but the Russian league is not famous compared to Laliga Santander, English Premier League and Bundesliga,”

“If he is to join Levante, he will be able to play in big matches against Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and others, whereby Tanzania and the other countries of the world will be able to watch him play and increase his worthiness and the whole issue is under Samatta himself to decide,” said Kisongo.

He explained that although Samatta is targeting to feature in one of the English Premier League teams, the current target of the player is to join either of the two teams. The Racing Club Genk striker has scored 21 goals in his first season in Belgium.

The 25-year-old striker arrived at Genk in January 2016 from the Congolese TP Mazembe that transferred him for 800,000 euros. The striker has played a total of 53 matches in the Belgian top flight league and above all, 12 matches in Europa competitions.
