Dar es Salaam. Football giants Simba kicked off the Mainland Tanzania League season with a bang after recording a 3-0 victory against Tabora United at the new Kinondoni Municipal Complex on August 18, 2024.

Simba’s goals were scored by Che Fondoh Malone, Valentino Mashaka, and Awesu Awesu, placing the Msimbazi Street giants at the top of the league standings with three points.

Simba dominated the encounter from the start, while Tabora United players failed to make a serious goal attempt.

Simba’s head coach, Fadlu Davids, commended his players for the good result and looked ahead to the next match against Fountain Gate FC.

“I am satisfied with the team’s performance and promise to do our best in the next match,” said Fadlu.

On his part, Tabora United head coach Francis Kimanzi said they are still building the team and, as time goes on, they will improve.

In another match, Singida Black Stars recorded a 3-1 victory against newly promoted KenGold in an exciting match at Sokoine Stadium.

KenGold played well despite the defeat, which was caused by a lack of concentration in defending.

Singida’s opening goal was scored by Emmanuel Kayekeh in the 41st minute with a long-range shot that beat goalkeeper Mussa Mussa.

In the second half, Elvis Rupia added a second goal in the 62nd minute, heading in a cross from Joseph Guede. The home team managed to score a consolation goal through Joshua Ibrahim in the 68th minute.

But just as KenGold thought they might get a second goal, they conceded a third in the 81st minute when Mohamed Kamara converted a corner kick taken by Marouf Tchakei, sealing Singida’s first three points of the season along with three goals.

KenGold’s coach, Fikiri Elias, admitted that they deserved the defeat due to being outplayed by their more experienced opponents. He stated that the team will regroup for their upcoming league matches against Fountain Gate and Yanga next week.

On the other hand, Patrick Aussems said his team lacked focus in the first half despite creating many chances, only managing to score one goal.
