Simba SC appointed as Zanzibar tourism ambassador

The Minister of Tourism and Heritage of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Simai Mohammed Said, has appointed Simba Sports Club as the Tourism and sports ambassador for Zanzibar.
Speaking to The Citizen he said he made the decision in recognition of the significant contribution that Simba Sports Club has made in promoting tourism and sports in Zanzibar and Tanzania as a whole.
“Simba SC has over the year grown to become a significant brand both locally and continentally with large followings. So we found that this could mark a long journey into promotion of not only Zanzibar’s tourist sites but also the immense contribution of sports,” he said
As part of the commitment, Simba SC will wear the "Visit Zanzibar" on the sleeves of jerseys and hashtag on social media during the Mapinduzi Cup.
Speaking on behalf of Simba Club, Simba CEO Imani Kajula said, "We are very grateful to the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar for recognizing the contribution of our team to promote tourism and thus boost the economy of Zanzibar. We are proud to be part of the great development that Zanzibar is experiencing."
He added: Sports is part global tourism and that is why countries struggle to host global tournaments such as the World Cup and the Olympics.
The team according to him will also feature the Visit Zanzibar hashtag on all their social media posts even after the Mapinduzi Cup throughout 2024.
The appointment of Simba as Tourism Ambassador is a significant boost for the tourism industry in Zanzibar.
