Dar es Salaam. One of Tanzania’s football giants, Simba, will today face TMA Stars in the Round of 32 of the Federation Cup (FA Cup).

The match is scheduled to take place at the KMC Complex at 4pm, and the team’s coaches have promised to give their best performance.

TMA Stars head coach Mohammed Ismail acknowledged the strong opposition from Simba ahead of the encounter.

Ismail said all players are in top form and ready to give their best in the match. “My players are in great spirits and ready to face Simba’s challenges. I know it will be a historic match for my players to face one of the big teams in the country,” said Ismail. He explained that his squad has a mix of players who can counter the experienced Simba players in the match.

“We are competing in the Championship League, which is the second tier after the Tanzania Mainland Premier League. I promise it will be the toughest and most thrilling match,” he added.

TMA Stars currently sit in fifth position with 41 points from 22 matches.

“Our main target is to make history by eliminating one of the giants,” he said. The winner of this match will face Big Man in the Round of 16. Big Man eliminated Tanzania Prisons with a 3-2 penalty shootout victory following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Key players for TMA Stars include Bastian Joseph, Abdul Aziz Shahame, and Sixtus Sabilo, who has previously played for JKT Tanzania, Namungo, and Mbeya City.

Other matches

Apart from Simba and TMA Stars, the fixture also shows that at Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro, Kiluvya United will take on Pamba Jiji FC at 4pm.

Pamba Jiji, who defeated Moro Kids 1-0 in the previous round, encountered an accident on their way to face Kiluvya United. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported, allowing the match to proceed as scheduled.

Kiluvya United were impressive in the Round of 64, securing a dominant 4-0 victory over African Lyon, making them a potential threat to Pamba Jiji.

Pamba Jiji are struggling in the Mainland Premier League, currently in 13th place with 22 points from 23 matches.

Meanwhile, Kagera Sugar will host Namungo at Kaitaba Stadium from 6 p.m.

Both teams compete in the Mainland Premier League and have already faced each other in the first round of the league at the same venue, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw
