SOCCER: Sseru’s move to Simba faulted
What you need to know:
- Express FC chairman has disassociated himself from signing any document permitting the player to leave the team.
Kampala. Uganda’s Express FC have cried foul over circumstances under which Tanzanian giants Simba SC snapped striker Simon Sserunkuma.
Sserunkuma landed a two-year deal accompanied with a sign on fee of $ 40,000 (approximately Sh30 million) after impressing for the Msimbazi Reds as they whipped their arch-rivals Young Africans 2 – 0 in a Nani Mtani Jembe match last weekend.
Express chairman Francis Ntalazzi has disassociated himself from signing any document permitting the player to move out of the team. He further cited foul play which he said would be handled by the police.
“Personally, I did not sign any document certifying the transfer of the player in question (Simon Sserunkuma), therefore the signature might have been forged.
“This is now beyond me, it is a police case of forgery and the law will take its course,” Ntalazi said.
Sserunkuma surprisingly featured in Express’s 1 – 2 loss to Bul FC on Tuesday, two days after inking his signature at Simba.
Dishing money to fellow players
Before and after the Bul F.C game, the former Kyegenra Happy Boys, Victors, SC Villa and Vipers player was seen dishing money to fellow players and club officials in a farewell gesture.
“I am excited about the move to Simba and I encourage my fellow players to train hard, be disciplined, everyone has his special time in life,” he said.
The striker has joined his namesake as well as compatriot Daniel Sserunkuma (formerly with Gor Mahia), Emmanuel Okwi, Maurishid Jjuuko (SC Victoria) and Joseph Owino at the Msimbazi Street club.
Meanwhile, in another development, newly appointed Coastal Union head coach, James Nandwa has vowed to help the club win the Vodacom Premier League title.
Nandwa was yesterday appointed as Union’s coach replacing Yusuf Chippo who has since left the club for an Assistant Coach’s role at AFC Leopards.
Speaking shortly after being confirmed as Union’s coach, Nandwa, a former AFC Leopards, Tusker FC and Karuturi Sports head coach, outlined his plans for the club saying that he wants to achieve the club’s goal of winning the Tanzanian Premier League title.
“I am thankful for this job at Coastal Union. I will help the club achieve their set goal which is winning the Tanzanian Premier League title,” he said.
Nandwa has been without a club after he was fired by Ingwe in April 2014.
