Star-studded Singida FG lock horns with AS Vita on Big Day

Dar es Salaam. Singida Fountain Gate (FG) Football Club today face an uphill task against AS Vita of the DR Congo in the international friendly organissed purposely to introduce their new players at the Liti Stadium in Singida Region.

The encounter has been scheduled to start at 4pm and all preparations are complete, according to the team’s chairman Ibrahim Mirambo.

Mirambo said all activities have been scheduled to start at 8pm with various performances before Singida Fountain Gate Princess face Bunda Queens.

He said there will also be speeches by the team’s president as well as Culture, Arts, and Sports minister Pindi Chana as the chief guest.

He said they have recruited the best players, who, they believe, will perform well in this year’s Mainland Premier League, the Azam Federation Cup, and the CAF Confederation Cup.

Some of the club’s new players are Thomas Ulimwengu, Joash Onyanga, Habib Kyombo, Yahya Mbegu, Nicholas Wadada, Dickson Ambundo, Kelvin Kijiri, Moris Chukwu, and Enock Atta Agyei.

"We call upon football and music enthusiasts to attend the event and celebrate with us. There will be maximum entertainment," said Mirambo.

For his part, Singida Fountain Gate FC head coach Hans Van Pluijm said they are expecting to face a tough challenge against AS Vita, who will also be testing their new players ahead of their league as well as international competitions.

Pluijm said all his players are in top form and ready to take on AS Vita, while promising they will not spoil their special day.

"My players have been in training for several weeks, and are catching up with my teachings." The match will be a real test for my team before heading to Tanga to compete in the Community Shield," said Pluijm, who also coached Young Africans (Yanga) several years ago.

AS Vita head coach Raoul Shungu said, they are happy to secure one of the tough international friendly matches on which he will test his players.

"We have recruited many new players ahead of the new season. I can say we have more than 80 percent of our team. I believe the match will give us the actual picture of the strength of my players before competing locally and internationally," said Shungu, former Yanga head coach.
