Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s national football team, the Taifa Stars, are gearing up for a challenging quarterfinal encounter against Morocco in the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The match is scheduled for August 22, 2025, at 8pm at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, promising to be an electrifying night for Tanzanian football fans.

This fixture presents an uphill task for the Taifa Stars, given the recent head-to-head records between the two sides.

In their last five meetings, Tanzania has managed just a single victory, while Morocco has dominated with four wins.

The scoring statistics further highlight the challenge: Taifa Stars have netted four goals against Morocco, who have found the back of the net ten times.

Despite these figures, the quarterfinal offers Tanzania a chance for redemption.

The Taifa Stars topped Group B with an impressive unbeaten run, amassing 10 points from three victories and one draw.

Their campaign was highlighted by a solid defensive performance, conceding only a single goal while scoring five. This remarkable form has boosted confidence within the squad, giving them hope of upsetting the stronger Moroccan side.

Head coach of Taifa Stars, Hemed Suleiman has emphasized the importance of strategy and teamwork ahead of the clash.

“We respect Morocco, but we also believe in our strengths. Our focus is on disciplined defense, quick transitions, and taking advantage of scoring opportunities,” said Suleiman.

Players have echoed this determination, citing their strong performance in the group stage as a motivation to push further in the tournament.

Morocco, on the other hand, will enter the match with high morale after comfortably securing four wins in their last five outings.

Known for their attacking prowess and tactical discipline, they will test Tanzania’s defense from the first whistle.

For Moroccan fans, this quarterfinal is expected to be another step toward their CHAN aspirations, but Tanzania’s unbeaten streak and hunger for revenge could make the encounter unpredictable.

Another quarterfinal fixture on the same day will feature Kenya’s Harambee Stars taking on Madagascar at 5pm, also at Moi International Sports Centre.

As the countdown begins, the spotlight will be on the Taifa Stars, who carry the hopes of an entire nation.
