Tanzania Ladies Open golf tournament stars today

Dar es Salaam. Leading golfers from Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda are today start to compete in the Tanzania Ladies Golf Open Championship at the Arusha Gymkhana Club course in Arusha.

According to the list provided to The Citizen, Tanzania will be represented by top golfers including Madina Iddi, Hawa Wanyeche, Vicky Elias, Aalaa Somji, Ayne Magombe, Neema Olomi, Yasmin Chali, and Loveness Mungure, among others.

Speaking to The Citizen yesterday, Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) president Queen Siraki confirmed that several top female golfers from Kenya and Uganda will also participate, with their names to be revealed before the start of the event. The tournament will end tomorrow.

Siraki said all golfers are in top shape ahead of the tournament that has been sponsored by National Bank of Commerce (NBC), Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL), NCBA Bank, Dorgen Group Limited, and Kukunde.

She highlighted that the championship will serve as a crucial selection platform for national team golfers ahead of the All Africa Challenge Trophy, scheduled to take place in Morocco this November.

The event is expected to attract over 100 golfers. Siraki emphasized that the competition will provide a significant challenge for local players, who have shown strong performances in international competitions.

In addition to the main event, there will be silver and bronze categories, and men will compete in subsidiary events divided into divisions A, B, and C. “To enhance the event, TLGU has organized additional activities, including the longest drive and nearest to the pin contests,” Siraki added.

The Tanzania Ladies Golf Open Championship promises to be a notable event on the golf calendar, drawing top talent and offering valuable opportunities for players to showcase their skills.
