Tanzania lady golfers to compete in All Africa Challenge Trophy

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania's lady golfers are set to compete in the All Africa Challenge Trophy scheduled to tee off this November in Agadir, Morocco.
The exciting development was announced yesterday by Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) president Queen Siraki, during an interview with The Citizen.
Siraki revealed that three national team golfers will represent Tanzania at the prestigious event, featuring competitors from various African countries.
The selection process for the team will be rigorous, involving a series of local and international competitions leading up to the event in Morocco.
The tournament is slated for November 28 to 30 at the Tazegzout Golf Course, a venue known for its challenging layout and scenic views.
“We have established criteria for selecting our national team golfers. This time, we will choose three players.
Our main focus is on discipline, performance, readiness to compete, and other factors," Siraki explained.
"Currently, we have several golfers who have competed in international events, such as the Zambia Ladies Open and Kenya’s Coastal Open, and some are now competing in the Uganda Ladies Open.
We also have the Tanzania Ladies Open, scheduled to tee off next month at the Arusha Gymkhana Golf Course, which we will use to help select the golfers," she said.
Siraki urged all lady golfers in Tanzania to feature in as many competitions as possible to increase their chances of being selected.
She stressed the importance of the events in making them get prepared for the expected high level competition in Morocco.
"Our goal is to achieve the best possible result in the tournament. In the last edition held at Tanzania’s Gymkhana Golf Course, our team finished third.
This time, we are aiming for the top position," said Siraki.
In the previous edition of the All Africa Challenge Trophy, Tanzania's team, composed of Hawa Wanyeche, Madina Idd, and Angel Eaton (now turned professional), posted a closing round score of 153 gross, bringing their total to 455 and securing a third-place finish overall.
South Africa claimed the first position with a total gross of 444, narrowly beating Morocco, who finished second by five shots.
