Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s High Performance (HPT) swimmers delivered an impressive performance at the just-concluded Dubai Open Championships, showcasing their talent against some of the world’s best swimmers.
The event proved to be a milestone for the Tanzanian contingent, with remarkable personal best (PB) improvements and podium finishes.
Leading the charge was women’s swimmer Crissa Dillip, who secured two medals while also setting new personal best times. Crissa clinched a silver medal in the 50 metres backstroke and a bronze medal in the 200 metres backstroke, underlining her growing prowess in international swimming competitions.
In addition to Crissa’s medal-winning efforts, other HPT swimmers, including Konhelli Mhella, Sebastian Carpintero, and Kaysan Kachra, also showcased significant improvements by setting new personal best times in their respective events.
Their achievements highlight the progress being made by Tanzania’s swimming talent on the global stage.
HPT’s head coach, Alexander Mwaipasi, expressed satisfaction with the performances of his swimmers, emphasizing that their primary goal was to improve their personal best times.
He accredited that competing against world-class swimmers was a challenge, but the team rose to the occasion.
“I told the swimmers before the championships that they were supposed to strive to improve their personal best times, and they did exactly that. Their next step now is to push themselves further in the upcoming international championships. Our swimmers still have time to enhance their swimming standards,” said Mwaipasi.
HPT manager Francisca Binamungu, popularly known as Mama Crissa, also lauded the swimmers for their hard work and commitment. She noted that their performances were a motivation for the entire swimming fraternity in Tanzania.
“We are incredibly proud of our swimmers’ performance. Their results have given us an even greater challenge to push harder and develop the sport further.
The dedication and hard work they have shown deserve applause. Well done to all the swimmers for their determination! Keep striving for excellence!” said Francisca.
