Tanzania swimmers hunt for medals in Africa event

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania national swimming teams today kickstart their campaigns for winning the Africa Zone Three championships at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club’s swimming pool.

Tanzania are among the countries featuring in the competition hosted by the Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) under the chairperson of TSA’s organizing committee, Hadija Shebe.

It will be represented by 63 swimmers, according to Shebe. The swimmers are under the team’s head coach Alexander Mwaipasi.

She said there will also be 200 swimmers from other 10 countries in the event including Uganda that will field 45 swimmers, Burundi (10), Rwanda (14), Eritrea (5), Ethiopia (7), Zambia (23), South Africa (18), Sudan (14) and Djibouti that will field 16 swimmers. The TSA official said there are other 48 swimmers who will also feature in the championships.

Tanzania’s women’s Tanzanites featuring in the event are Bridget Heep, Maryam Ipilinga, Crissa Dillip, Lorita Borega, Amylia Chali, Filbertha Demello, Aminaz Kachra, Aliyana Kachra, Lina Goyayi, Sophia Latiff, Ria Save, Natalia Ladha, Sarah Tibazarwa, Muskan Gokan and Sarah Shariff.

The men’s Tanzanites team comprises Julius Missokia, Max Missokia, Kabeer Lakhani, George Nangale, Austin Okore, Aryan BhattBhatt, Nabeel Gahhu, Mark Tibazarwa, Peter Itatiro, Delbert Ipilinga, Ethan Alimanya, Romeo Mwaipasi, Hilal Hilal, Collins Saliboko, Mohameduwais Abdulllatif, Michael Joseph and Aaron Akwenda.

Tanzania’s women’s Diamond team is formed by Zainab Moosajee, Aamina Takim, Myra Makwaia, Abigail Mutungwa, Mahek Desai, Amaris Nanyaro, Catherine Maokola, Aaliya Takim, Mischa Ngoshani, Naisae Teggisa, Rahma Semizigi and Kalya Temba.

The men’s Diamond team is formed by Kaysan Kachra, Hape Coleman, Alberto Itatiro, Luke Okore, Zac Okumu, Isaac Mukani, Enrico Barretto, Sahal Harunani, Christian Fernandes, Salman Yasser, Delhem Rashid, William Chengula, Elia Kimimba, Santo Bash,George Coleman, Nathan Kagoro, Sayi Goyayi, Elia Hangi and Revocatus Joseph

“So far, all preparations have been well made and we are calling on all the game’s stakeholders to attend and support Tanzania’s swimmers,” said Shebe.

She explained that the Tanzania swimmers have promised to do their best in the competition sponsored by Kilombero Sugar Company through its Bwana Sukari product.

Apart from Kilombero Sugar Company, other sponsors for the championships are Spark Rehabilitation Centre, Dar es Salaam Yatch Club, Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club, International School of Tanganyika, Pepsi, Snow Cream, Burger 53 and F & L Fresh Juice.
