Ugandan driver leads Tanzania Motorsports event

Dar es Salaam. Ugandan driver Yassin Nasser is leading the National Rally Championship (NRC).

Nasser has so far collected 60 points from two NRC series, according to the Automobile Association of Tanzania (AAT).

Nasser collected 30 points in the first edition held in Iringa Region before recording another 30 points in the second edition held in Tanga Region, dubbed the Usambara Motor Sports. As per the NRC’s standings, Manveer Birdi is placed in the second position after collecting 42 points. The Tanzanian driver managed to collect 21 points in the Iringa Region’s event and later scored 21 points in the Mount Usambara event.

Manveer said he is still fighting to reduce the gap with the first-place driver, and there are still two events before reaching the climax of the year’s NRC series.

"Everybody is targeting the top position in the NRC. It is not over until it is over, as the top position is still open," said Manveer.

The standings show that Gurpal Sandhu and Randeep Birdi are placed in third place after each collecting 24 points. Sandhu collected 24 points in Iringa and did not score in Tanga’s rally, while Birdi scored 24 points in Tanga, where he finished in the second position. The event's logs also show that Charles Bicco is placed in the fifth position after collecting 19 points, Kelvin Taylor is in the sixth position after collecting 17 points, and Sultan Chana is placed in the seventh position with 15 points. Iringa’s famous driver, Hamid Mbatta, is in the eighth position after garnering 13 points. Other drivers, Mussa Mswaki, Shane Abbas Fazal, Yusuf Akida, and Aliasger Fazal, have scored no points so far. In the NRC two championship, Nasser is also at the top with 60 points, followed by Sandhu with 24 points.

In NRC 3, Manveer Birdi is leading with 54 points, while Randeep Singh is in the second position with 30 points, and Charles Bicco is in the third position with 24 points.

The standings show that Kelvin Taylor is placed fourth with 21 points, while Sultan Chana is in fifth place with 19 points, and Hamid Mbatta is in sixth with 17 points. Mussa Mswaki, Shane Abbas Fazal, Yusuf Akida, and Aliasgher Fazal are placed in seventh with no points.
