Vodacom pours Sh100m to sponsor NBC Dodoma Marathon

  • The fifth edition of the NBC Dodoma Marathon is expected to feature more than 8,000 runners from various regions and abroad.

Dar es Salaam. Vodacom Tanzania has announced a sponsorship worth Sh100 million for this year’s NBC Dodoma Marathon 2024, scheduled to take place on July 28 at the Jamhuri Stadium in the Dodoma region.

Vodacom Tanzania's Head of Media Relations, Annette Kanora, said the sponsorship is for the half marathon (21 kilometers race). Kanora said they decided to support the event due to its importance in enhancing community well-being.

The fifth edition of the NBC Dodoma Marathon is expected to feature more than 8,000 runners from various regions and abroad.

"As Vodacom, we are deeply committed to combating Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and improving maternal health throughout Tanzania. Working together with NBC Bank for the Dodoma Marathon allows us to make a more meaningful contribution. Vodacom Tanzania, through exemplary initiatives like m-mama, is dedicated to utilizing the power of mobile technology to provide timely and essential health services, ensuring that Tanzanians receive the care they need,” said Kanora.

She explained that through the partnership, they hope to spark and catalyze positive change in the communities, while addressing national and global health agendas, particularly non-communicable diseases.

According to Kanora, as a technology and communication partner, Vodacom will help the event reach new heights, inspiring greater participation and generating even greater impact.

For his part, NBC Bank's Head of Corporate Affairs, Godwin Semunyu, said they are happy to have stakeholders in the event, as collaboration and partnerships are key to building sustainable communities.
