Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions Young Africans (Yanga) will face KenGold FC today at the Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya, after their tough assignment in the CAF Champions League.

Last Saturday Yanga competed in the CAF Champions League, securing a spot in the group stage for the second consecutive time.

Their league matches had been postponed to allow the Jangwani Street giants to have the ample time of preparing for the continental competition.

The KenGold FC vs. Yanga match is scheduled to kick off at 4:15pm, with both teams aiming for victory to improve their standings in the league.

This will be KenGold FC's fifth match and Yanga's second in the ongoing Tanzania Mainland Premier League. KenGold FC will be seeking their first league victory, after having lost all their four previous matches.

Records show that KenGold FC suffered a 3-1 defeat to league leaders Singida Black Stars at the Sokoine Stadium, a 2-1 loss to Fountain Gate, a 1-0 defeat to Kinondoni Municipal Council, and a 2-0 loss to Kagera Sugar at the Kaitaba Stadium on September 20. As a result, the team currently sit at the bottom of the league standings without any point.

Yanga, on the other hand, have played only one league match, securing a 2-0 victory over Kagera Sugar at the Kaitaba Stadium.

The Jangwani Street side is currently placed 12th with three points. A win today will move them up to seventh place, replacing Dodoma Jiji FC, who have collected six points from five matches.

Yanga head coach Miguel Gamondi expressed confidence in his team's readiness for the encounter, emphasising that they are not underestimating their opponents, who are considered strong contenders.

"My players are in high spirits and focused on achieving a positive result. We trained well, and our aim is to secure the best result in this match," said Gamondi.

KenGold FC's acting head coach, Jumanne Challe, stated that their goal is to secure victory despite facing a tough challenge. Challe acknowledged that Yanga are one of the top teams in the league with talented players but stressed that they are prepared to surprise them, as the three points are crucial.

"We need to play with determination against Yanga. My players are in high spirits ahead of the match, and our target is to win," Challe insisted.

Meanwhile, JKT Tanzania today meet Coastal Union in another Tanzania Mainland Premier League match at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium from 2pm.
