Yanga to begin residential camp on Friday, set for further training in South Africa

Dar es Salaam. Young Africans SC (Yanga) are set to kick off their official pre-season preparations this Friday, August,1, 2025 as the Tanzanian football giants begin a residential camp in Dar es Salaam ahead of the highly anticipated 2025/2026 league season.

This marks the beginning of an intense preparation phase that will see the club undergo domestic and international training programs, including friendly matches against top clubs in the region.

According to one of the club officials, all Yanga players are expected to report to camp in the city where initial training and fitness assessments will be conducted under the supervision of the newly appointed technical bench led by French coach Romain Folz.

The official also confirmed that the team will remain in Dar es Salaam until mid-August before traveling abroad for a series of international engagements.

One of the highlights of Yanga’s pre-season schedule will be an international friendly match in Kigali, Rwanda against Rayon Sports FC.

The match, which is part of the "Rayon Sports Day 2025" celebrations, will take place at the historic Amahoro Stadium on August 17.

The encounter is expected to draw thousands of fans and will serve as a crucial test for both teams ahead of their respective league campaigns.

“Players are reporting to camp this week, and the team will stay in Dar es Salaam before heading to Kigali on August 14,” the official noted. “This match against Rayon Sports is a special occasion, and we’re proud to be part of their celebration. It also provides us with a valuable platform to assess the team’s readiness.”

After the clash in Kigali, the Yanga squad is scheduled to return to Tanzania and resume residential camp at the state-of-the-art Avic Town facility, located on the outskirts of Dar es Salaam.

The facility offers a serene and professional environment conducive for high-performance training.

However, the club’s pre-season program does not end there. Plans are already underway for the team to fly to South Africa for an advanced training camp. While dates are yet to be finalized, the South African camp is expected to feature high-intensity sessions and a series of competitive friendly matches against top Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs.

This part of the program is designed to enhance match fitness, tactical fluidity, and foster team chemistry under real match conditions.

The upcoming season is crucial for Yanga, who are aiming to retain their domestic supremacy after winning all four major trophies last season—the NBC Premier League, Azam Sports Federation Cup (FA Cup), Union Cup, and the Community Shield.

Additionally, the club has set an ambitious target of reaching the group stage of the CAF Champions League, a mission that demands sharpness and cohesion at every level.
