At Liquid Intelligent Technologies Tanzania, a company renowned for its commitment to innovation, connectivity, and building a digital future for Africa, there is one key figure steering the human resource’s function: Amina Ahmed, the Human Resources Business Partner.
Amina’s path to this pivotal role has been shaped by resilience, hard work, and an unwavering dedication to empowering others, and she is not just leading her team—she is shaping the future of the organization.
Amina’s journey has not been a smooth ride, but one defined by growth and an evolving passion for people management. Reflecting on her career so far.
“From my early days in HR, where I learned the intricacies of people management, to becoming a trusted advisor to leaders and teams, every step has been a lesson in resilience and adaptability. It’s not just about climbing the corporate ladder; it’s about staying true to your values, nurturing talent, and fostering an environment where individuals can thrive,” she shares.
Starting her career in HR, Amina quickly learned that every experience, both challenging and rewarding, was helping her evolve into the leader she is today.
With a Master’s Degree in Human Resources and over seven years of experience spanning various industries—export, manufacturing, and telecom—Amina has become an expert in aligning HR strategies with business goals, creating meaningful employee engagement, and ensuring satisfaction.
As she explains, “At my current position, I work on strategies that not only support the company but also enhance employee engagement and experience. I enjoy developing HR solutions that make a tangible impact—whether that’s through wellness programs or recognition initiatives that motivate and recognize employees.”
Amina takes pride in the culture of approachability she’s cultivated in her role. “Honestly, nobody fears to come to my office. They’re not frightened when I ask them to meet with me, and I take that as a positive sign. Being approachable as an HR manager is key to building trust.”
As a woman leading HR in a rapidly growing tech company, Amina has never been deterred by the challenges that come with balancing corporate policies with human empathy.
“There is always a struggle to balance following company policies while understanding human emotions. As HR, you have to make tough decisions, but at the end of the day, we must ensure fairness and maintain a healthy work environment,” she says, acknowledging the complexities of her role, especially when tough news has to be delivered.
However, her approach to leadership remains grounded in fairness and empathy, recognizing that people are at the heart of every successful organization.
One of Amina’s primary focuses has been on building an inclusive and supportive workplace for women at all levels within the organization.
“At Liquid Intelligent Technologies Tanzania, we have taken several initiatives to promote gender balance and inclusivity. For example, our Executive Committee (EXCom) has a 50-50 leadership split between men and women, and we provide equal opportunities for women to lead significant projects. We’ve also implemented a designated room to support the needs of working mothers, alongside policies against discrimination and harassment,” Amina shares.
These initiatives are not just about meeting quotas but about creating real change that fosters engagement, productivity, and mutual respect.
“We’ve seen these measures increase both employee satisfaction and overall engagement. It’s about creating a space where everyone can contribute meaningfully to the success of the organization,” she says.
Amina understands the importance of work-life balance—not only for herself but also for her team members. “Work-life balance is critical because it reduces stress and burnout and improves overall well-being. At Liquid Intelligent Technologies Tanzania, we’ve implemented flexible work arrangements where staff can adjust their hours or work remotely based on their personal needs,” she explains.
Additionally, Amina emphasizes the importance of regular one-on-one sessions between employees and their managers. These meetings help identify challenges and solutions that benefit both the individual and the organization. Amina also advocates for employees to take time off to recharge, promoting wellness programs that include counseling services and gym access to ensure holistic well-being.
Looking back on her career, Amina offers valuable advice to young girls aspiring to follow in her footsteps. “HR is not just about hiring and firing; it’s about courage—the courage to take the first step and the kindness to treat people well. Titles and status might open doors, but it’s how you treat people that will define you in the long run. And always give credit where it’s due—none of us get here on our own.”
Her words of encouragement are not just for those aspiring to work in HR, but for anyone looking to make a difference in their field: “It’s scary, yes, but it should never limit you. The experiences you face will mold you into the person you aspire to be.”
Amina’s impact at Liquid Intelligent Technologies extends beyond just her role in HR. As she reflects, “HR is people-oriented. By filtering the best candidates that align with the company’s profile, I help ensure that we have the right people in the right roles. That’s a key factor in the company’s success.”
With the challenges of today’s business environment, Amina is ready for what lies ahead. She believes that a commitment to innovation, adaptability, and maintaining strong human connections will continue to guide the company—and her own leadership—into a bright future. “My journey is far from over, but I feel that the foundation is strong. The future is bright, and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
Amina Ahmed is not just a manager; she is a mentor, a guide, and a champion for everyone who walks through the doors of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Tanzania.
